These pieces are my daily go-to’s, they make dressing in the morning easier, and they elevate my personal style.

Over the years I have made a conscious effort to buy less. Now I focus on classic, quality pieces that suit my body shape. This year is the first time I can confidently say I have been sticking to it (hallelujah!)

I was tired of looking at my wardrobe (overflowing, I might add) and still feeling like I had ‘nothing to wear’. The more clothes you own does not necessarily give you more outfit options; it can end up confusing you and let’s not talk about the wasted money.

Here are my top five items you need in your wardrobe- these pieces are my daily go-to’s, they make dressing in the morning easier, and they elevate my personal style.

1.White Shirt

Every ‘stylish girl’ knows the power of a classic white shirt. It’s the one item that takes my outfit and style to the next level. I like to wear mine oversized and slouchy with long exaggerated sleeves, and always a focus on a beautiful quality yarn.

This OFF-WHITE ruffled detail shirt sits on the body so well. I love wearing it loose over my GFLFRND distressed skinny jeans or slightly tucked into my skinnies or leather for a crisp, classic look. With all white it’s all about the details. I look for delicate ruffled sides and back with featured ‘WOMAN’ graphic on the back to make all white a little more interesting.

2.Graphic Tee

Graphic tees (hello to my new Givenchy distressed logo print tee ) are the new ‘IT’ tee that has replaced my classic white tee as my staple.

I wear them to work under my favourite black blazer and black pants to edge up my look or on weekends with my light washed cropped denim under some faux fur. They also look great layered under my favourite silk slip dresses and some metallic accessories.

Graphic tees, like this retro style tee Dsquared best of T-shirt and this Harley Davidson number only get better with age and are reminiscent of the 90’s, if only I started my collection back then.

3.Raw Edge Distressed Denim

I always come back to my classic pair of distressed denim. They stand the test of time, and it is very current this season again. They must have a high-waist. The high waist is super flattering and gives you the freedom to tuck in your oversized shirts, knits or tees to make them the hero. These jeans are an ode to the 90’s, but it’s an edgy take on the ultimate Mum fit. I love pairing these cropped style jeans with my square toed glossed ankle Balenciaga boots, which makes the raw denim the focus.

There is nothing that makes your outfit sing more than a pair of Gucci loafers paired with cigarette pants and a boyfriend shirt- it is the perfect mix of class and comfort. Perfect for us mummas on the go that still want to look put together.

 5. Blazer

Blazers are definitely having a moment. Well, they never left but the now the more eighties inspired, the better. I love oversized lapels, long lengths and exaggerated shoulders. I like belting them to emphasise my waist. I buy them oversized, so I can style them off the shoulder when the night calls for a little more skin.
