5 Minutes With Dannii Minogue

I first got a look at this fabulous collaboration between Dannii Minogue and Target at the Melbourne Fashion Festival earlier this year. Since then, I have been eagerly waiting for the collection to drop as I loved what I saw down the runway.

It’s great that Dannii and Target have thought about all ladies (being petite can come in any size, the range is available from sizes 4-16) when designing this collection. It can be so difficult for petite woman to find stylish pieces that fit right, and we all know that a tailored fit is key to getting your clothes looking amazing. Dannii knows her stuff when it comes to petite fashion; Dannii is only five foot two inches,so she is very petite but she always looks incredible.

I recently caught up with Dannii to chat about about how her collection with Target came about, her styling tips for petite ladies and her favourite pieces in the range.

// How did your exciting Petites range in collaboration with Target come about? Target is an iconic Aussie brand I have grown up with. They were keen to do something creative with me, and I desperately wanted to have a solutions based collection of clothes for Petite women – as I struggle finding clothes to fit.

// I am also quite petite, I find it hard to find clothes that fit, so I am really looking forward to this range. Can you tell me about it? The range has clothes for casual weekends, business attire, after 5 glam and event dressing. Most petites find themselves shopping in the kid’s section of clothing stores, as it is the closest fit – but that usually does not cover much more than casual clothes. I wanted ladies to be able to find clothes for work and play, which had high-end detail in the manufacturing. Target are renowned for their quality production.

// Do you have any styling tips for petite girls? The trick is to always make choices that elongate the body. The shapes need to be in proportion to the body size, therefore, if they are not cut from a petite pattern, they will swamp the body and make you look short for no reason. It is best if clothing follows the form of the body. Whether tight fitting or loose, it needs to follow your body shape. All fabric patterns are better when they are facing in a vertical direction. Long zips and seams running vertically can also create length.

// Must wear print or colour that you are wearing this season? Emerald is a favourite right now. And black – always black!

// What are your top 5 pieces of the collection?

My crepe ‘sheath’ dress is curvalicious. The exposed zip that runs the length of the dress at the back is uber sexy, and the dress has been in cut in a stretch crepe with a stretch lining, so it supports every curve. $69

My black Tuxedo blazer is so beautifully constructed. All my girlfriends think it is from an expensive European designer label. $89

My Boyfriend jean. They are baggy in the right places, and hug in the right places. $59

My linen blend Tees. They are long enough to wear out, or short enough to tuck in. A regular size is always too long on me. $25

My ¾ length sleeve suede jacket for just $99!!!!!

Get in quick, this range will be dropping in Target stores from tomorrow 7th August and online at target.com.au at an affordable price point starting at $24 to $99.
