It’s Spring Racing fever in Melbourne. Highpoint are getting in on the action, they ran a specialised Spring Racing activation called the Spring Racing Colour Hub last week. It included free personal styling for all things Spring Racing. Customers received the latest fashion, beauty and millinery tips from expert stylists.

There were so many handy tips on offer. I also included my top 5 Spring Racing tips.

Embrace trends: Popular summer trends to try this season are bold prints, its all about embracing prints together. Monochrome (all one colour or black & white together). Pastel colours are very big in pinks, limes and lemon. Longer hemlines and shift dresses and lace detail with a focus on embellishments. Its about looking classy.

Focus on accessories: Getting your millinery, handbag and jewellery spot on is key to a winning outfit. I adore structured straw hats that frame the face.

Keep it original: Look to Australian designers that aren’t as well known for creating race wear like emerging labels like Steele, Jaimie Ashkar and Eska Alikai. Rodeo Show & Seed are also great options. Zara, TOPSHOP and ASOS have a great range of unique cuts that wont be seen on every person. You are sure to find some amazing looks for under $100.

Take note of the dress codes: (I have touched on this in detail before)

Derby Day kicks off the Melbourne Cup Carnival with traditional black and white.

Cup Day is colourful – bright tones in green, orange and cobalt blue are sure to be popular.

Oaks Day is floral and feminine – try lace and embellished pieces. Lover is a great label to turn to on this day.

Be handbag ready: A day at the races can be long. By the time the afternoon hits I am reaching for a chair as fast as possible. Take essentials like eye drops for your eyes that may begin to sting. Bandaids and party feet for our throbbing footsies. Bobby pins and hairspray to keep our headpieces in place and mini perfume to keep you fresh.
