Derby Day Outfit

Firstly, I must apologise for my lack of love to my blog. If you follow my Instagram, you will know I have been on my honeymoon for the last 4 weeks. I always work when I go on holidays, but I thought it was only fair to Jim to take a proper break and try to clock off for our honeymoon, as it’s a once in a lifetime experience.

I couldn’t ask for a better welcome back to Australia than attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival, working as Lavazza’s Fashion Insider. It’s always my favourite time of year.

The races kicked off yesterday with my favourite Derby Day. There are so many reasons I love this day, everyone can attend because it’s on a Saturday, it’s tradition with my friends that we all go and how can you not love the black and white dress code, it keeps the day super stylish and classy.

I have a real obsession with the off the shoulder this season. As soon as I saw this Toni Maticevski dress at Sydney Fashion Week in white and orange I fell in love. I was so excited to find out it also came in black and white, I knew it would be perfect for Derby, and you can’t get better than the master Maticevski when it comes to race day dressing.

As much as I love wearing black and white, I can also admit, it can be a little boring. I think it is important to play up with different texures and cuts to make your outfit pop. I styled the sleek, modern lines of this dress with a laser cut frosted headpiece that was modern but still sophisiticated to suit the dress, by the talented Aniss Adler from Studio Aniss.
