How To Wear White Denim

This season, more than any other, is the season to wear white. Wearing white head to toe is so fresh and screams that you have it going on. I love rocking this tone with the white knit, shirt and coat on high rotation in my wardrobe, one item that I have been a little cautious of including into the mix are white jeans. It takes me back to my uni days when white jeans were my best friend; I would wear them with horrendous printed silk halter neck tops that I bought from my favourite (to remain nameless) store in Melbourne Central. I thought I was so cool, but had no idea how to style them and the fit was all wrong, I haven’t been able to look at them ever since.

Fast-forward ten years and I think it’s time to give these babies another go; it also helps that they are a hot new thing, trending on the street at fashion weeks. As much as I love blue and black denim, I wear them to death in winter, so it’s easy to get into a rut.

// WHITE ON WHITE. The key to wearing white denim is to mix it with a total head to toe white look. Keep the look minimal and uncluttered; you don’t need too many accessories, a pair of black sunglasses with sleek hair is all your need.

If all white is too tricky (you can sometimes feel like a cricketer) then white, black and cream is always a great option. These colours work great in winter as you can layer the cream and white up top, introducing the black with your shoes and bag. I love the black mule teamed with white jeans.

// BLUE SHIRT.  There is something so crisp about a baby blue shirt teamed with white jeans. Go for a relaxed style with your hair and throw on strappy heels and a thin belt to finish the look.

// WITH BLACK. When all else fails, black and white is the way to go. You can’t beat the monochrome look; it’s timeless and will effortlessly take you from day to night.

// DENIM + PLAID.Plaid sweaters and light blue are other colours I love to team with white. You can try a double denim look with a chambray denim shirt and blue denim jackets to balance out the white and keeps the look fresh, and not as harsh as blue on blue denim.
