The festival officially kicked off on Wednesday night with the first runway show by vogue.com.au. It was pretty phenom! With a list of Creme de la Creme designers showcasing their current A/W collections. Josh Goot, Toni Maticevski, Scanlan & Theodore and Willow just to name a few. I noticed strong trends. Mocochrome was still out in force, white and black doesn’t look like its going away anytime soon (which is fine with me). Carla Zampatti nailed this look and teamed it with androgynous styling. LOVE!
Leather was everywhere, lots of thicker quilted pieces. Matichevski had a great range of panelled pieces that sculptured the models bodies perfectly. Scanlan rocked leather peplums. I need that high-neck leather plum number..WOW! (pictured below)
Vibrant metallics also featured, Scanlan did this best with gorgeous purples and greens. Their quality of textures really stood out.
Now don’t forgot Black, it was all over the runway with an explosion of different textures. Im a black girl so i was very happy to see this colour palette as strong as ever.
