nadiacoppolino_springracing_outfit_2013Its official, the Spring Racing carnival has kicked off for 2013. This year is particularly exciting as I have joined forces with Renault to give away two super cool Spring Racing Experiences. It’s always best to experience something with your best buddy and the Melbourne Cup is the best day for it.

The giveaway includes exclusive tickets to the races and transfers on the day in the retro-inspired Floride. Do you remember seeing images of this cool car in the 60’s? We only have 50 limited cars available in Australia. The giveaway also includes getting pampered in the morning with your makeup & hair professionally done- which is essential for the races, we need our makeup to stay put the whole day.

I have loved all the entries so far, some of you have shown me images I have never seen. Don’t forget to enter via instagram (the competition closes this Thursday..eeek so soon!) show me your 60’s style inspo to win. All the details here and at Show Your Bardot.

This competition is all about embracing your favourite 60’s style. The 60’s inspire me daily with my style icons Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly rocking this era, that’s why I jumped at the chance to be involved. I look up to these classic beauties as they never look overdone.

60’s mod is a huge trend in 2014. Seen on all the international runways in Paris, there is no wonder its a key look for Cup Day. We will see lots of full circle skirts and lady-like shift dresses. Bright colours and bold patterns, stripes, polka dots will also be huge. The day is about looking classy and sophisticated- the 60’s nailed this look.

And my top style tips..

Remember it’s the races not a nightclub so leave your mini skirts, sparkly dresses and midriff at home. Try avoiding plunging necklines and always try to cover your shoulders (I know this can be hard with all the cute styles) but its nice to keep it traditional.

Focus on your headwear, this season it’s all about a statement headpiece. Lots of leather embellishments, lace detail and netting. A little bit of detail over the right eye is the perfect finish.

Spend extra time on finding your accessories. You don’t have to match your bag and your shoes but it’s about carrying a colour or material through. I like to focus on three colours so it gives across a polished look that isn’t too matchy. Your heels should have thicker heel or wedge so you don’t sink in the grass.
