The Week That Was

What a crazy week that was!

Melbourne Cup Week continues to be one of the busiest weeks in Melbourne, with everyone around the country coming down to join in the festivities. We all complain about the crowds, weather and sore feet, but we wouldn’t want it any other way. You can’t explain the incredible vibe that you feel down the track during the week. All the ladies dolled up in their Sunday best with the guys all excited to drop some serious coin on the punt.

I felt so fortunate to spend my week with the Lavazza crew in their marquee. This year they played homage to Italy like never before with their ‘From Italy, with Passion’ theme.

Lavazza engaged leading Melbourne architects Herbert & Mason to design the new reusable structure that is this year’s Lavazza marquee (titled ‘Caffe Lavazza’). The marquee felt 10 times bigger than past years.

Rich marbles and strong industrial steel have been used and were inspired by renowned Italian designer, Gilberto Colombo. Everything screamed Italy ( I would know as I have just come back from the increidble country) even down to the cute Italian spoken waiters.

I also loved working with The Iconic this year. They nail Spring Racing looks every year and they do a great job of making it easy for us online shopping fanatics (AKA me) by putting together unique looks for each race day to suit the dress code.

They saved my life this year, as I attended this media lunch just a day after arriving home from my honeymoon, so I didn’t have much time and needed an outfit asap. I ordered this By Johnny Dress (which is exclusive to The Iconic) and it came within 3 hours.  I honestly can’t get over how quickly they deliver these days, it’s too easy.

Until next year my friends, now it’s time to rest my feet.
