As much I love the easy going and fresh feel of summer, winter clothing holds a special place in my heart. Bring on heavy knits, buttery leather and boxy coats. Attending the Myer AW14 catwalk show last week, I saw a bucket load of inspiration for my autumn and winter wardrobe with some amazing trends out in force. As usual Myer kills me with their show, I leave feeling eager to get my little mitts on all the looks.

Here are some of my favourite trends that have just dropped at Myer.

1. LEATHER LOVE

Luxury leather pieces in winter? Yes please! This season I have noticed contrasting leather with interesting fabrications, it’s free of excessive hardware with modern lines the focus. This pastel weighty jacket by Ellery caught my eye instantly. It pairs perfectly with white for fresh approach this winter. I was also impressed with Myer designer Charlie Brown’s leather down the catwalk- so many edgy pieces!

2.  WINTER FLORALS

Soft floral prints were all over the catwalk. This season it’s a more romantic take on the summer prints we just embraced. Cue Clothing has some gorgeous floral separates that I couldn’t take my eyes off in the show. This Jayson Bunsdon jumper is also a favourite; the sheer panels mean the sweatshirt is lightweight. These floral prints look best teamed with muted coats, Wayne Cooper has a gorgeous pink number. Other designers that are rocking florals are Sass n Bide and Ellery.

3.  ITS ALL ABOUT RED

Every season there is a colour that is on everyones lips…this year that colour is RED. To be honest I normally steer away from this colour, I think it looks much better on brunettes. Red adds some intensity to your wardrobe. My matching rouge set is from Yeojin Bae. Toni Maticevski, Jane Lamerton and Aurelio Costarella are other designers that have this colour sorted. This colour pairs perfectly with the on-trend animal print.

4. MONOCHROME

Once again the classic black and white is here to stay. This combo was everywhere last season and now we are seeing it in stripes, blocks, chevrons or florals. No complaints here! Manning Cartell has really embraced it with endless monochrome pieces. Sass and Bide and Cue Clothing have also focused on this trend.

5. CITY SAFARI

Cute animal prints are taking on a new form this season. New textures are introduced for a modern take on the classic safari. I loved incorporating animal print with my accessories either snakeskin or leopard work. If I am wearing my print as clothing I like to pair it with a block colour. I have styled a boxy white sweater from Piper (so affordable) but navy or red would also work with this leopard skirt.
