Every season there are countless new trends introduced. This autumn and winter is no different. I find these new trends inspirational, but I think it’s important to work these trends into your everyday wear and make them work for you. Its not about religiously following trends; you have to re-work it, so it suits your body shape, lifestyle and own personal style.
I also got to play with Highpoint’s amazing new app. Unlock Your Style. It allows you to create cool flat lays utilising the key trends I have identified below that suit your personal style. You will then be aware of the best trends and pieces before you shop.
Once you create your flat lay, you can share it with your friends via social media and you receive prizes (we all love a discount, especially on those expensive winter coats) and instant rewards which you can use in-store. Have a play HERE
1.Winter Garden: Feminine floral prints and patterns in a rich winter palette of olive green, deep plum, dark navy and mustard were seen heavily down the international catwalks. I am not the biggest fan of florals so I like to mix them with classics like denim or leather for an edgier look. Or you can go all out and layer different floral prints together.
2.Metallic: All things metallic including traditional gold and silver plus metallic blue, red and green. I love to introduce metallic with my accessories, it’s easy to incorporate some cute metallic flats ( Mimco have a great pair) or a cute bag.
3.Urban Combat: Khaki, army and olive colours make up the military trend this season. Wearing it from head to toe is a statement look that you can introduce; it’s all about focussing on those layers with different textures to make it interesting.
I like wearing one olive piece with more toned down pieces like me favourite black pants or denim.
4.Animal Instinct: Animal prints including zebra, leopard, cheetah, snake and even giraffe are being released by lots of my favourite desginers. A sleek pair of pointed ballet flats is my favourite way to wear the trend.
5.60’s Revival: Every season has a signature decade and this time around it’s call about the 60′s and features creamy pastels, A-line skirts and high neck knits.
6.Black Out: All things black; from boots, hats and gloves to coats, skirts and stockings is the way to go. Black is always popular but this season is the time to wear it together.
7.It’s a Man’s World: It’s time to borrow from your hubby or boyfriend as strong tailoring, structured blazers, button up shirts and sophisticated suits
8.Knits: I have already stocked up on knits, they are my saviour all winter as you can layer them under blazers, coats and over all your crisp shirts. Chunky knits, intricate cable knits and finer crochet varieties are the way to go. Look for neutral tones.
Enjoy winter shopping, it’s my favourite season to shop for as you can play around with so many pieces and trends so it works for you.
