The Perfect White Tee

Today is all about my hunt for the perfect white t-shirt, yes it’s a simple item, but finding the perfect kind is not an easy task. It’s all about finding the right cut with the perfect amount of slouch and stretch.

Packing for holidays, relaxing on the weekend or heading out to dinner, I find myself always grabbing for the humble white tee.

I am not the only person who understands the power of this simple classic with our local favourite Cotton On just releasing an exciting campaign in Australia ‘The One’, featuring seven-style collection of high quality, flattering fit tee’s that are modern and comfy

Cotton On have done have a fabulous job and their tees are so affordable, so it inspired me to put together my checklist.

// FABRIC This is the most important factor, the material you choose will determine how the shirt looks on your body, a lighter (thinner) fabric will be more clingy; a thicker fabric will hold its shape. So a softer fabric looks great at the start but then it starts to loose its shape quite quickly, I tend to look to a tighter weave fabrics that are a little thicker as they will last longer.

// NECKLINE I have found that a rounded neckline works better than a V-neck with my style, but this comes down to your body shape and what you like to pair your tees with. Wearing an open neckline that shows off your neckline will make you look longer and leaner, and some say a V-neck is more flattering if you are petite and have a short neckline.

// SLEEVE Mid-way or cap sleeve? There re so many options for sleeve length and what you choose depends on how you like to wear your tee. I dress my tee up and wear them casually, so I tend to reach for a slightly longer sleeve as it works for both occasions and is more flattering, you an always roll up the sleeves for another look.

I like to go up a size in my tee’s, so even if they are a tighter style, you can create that slouchy look with a bigger size.

How do you like to wear your white tee? See below for some looks I love.
